Born in Jamaica, Queens on August 23, 1987, Nigel Sylvester began his love of riding at age five in his grandmother’s driveway. Nigel credits the neighborhood where he grew up for teaching him a lot about life at an early age in addition to giving him his start on a bike.
Growing up in New York, Nigel did not have access to skate parks, big park courses or the means to enter contests but he never let that stop him from reaching his goal of being one of the best in BMX.
Nigel continued to form his skills riding on the streets and parks of New York City before he turned pro. While New York doesn’t feature a multitude of skate parks for riders, Nigel still considers it his favorite place to ride in the world.
With a riding style formulated in the streets of New York City and on display around the world, Nigel Sylvester is a rising star in the world of sports and widely recognized as one of the premier athletes in BMX.
In 2011, Casio America Inc. announced Nigel as a new ambassador for its flagship series of tough and stylish G-Shock Watches. According to Shigenori Itoh, CEO of Casio, first-rate BMX rider from New York Nigel Sylvester, known for his original street riding style, is a person who completely captures the soul and heart of Casio G-Shock.
“When I’m out riding my bike I need a timepiece that compliments me.”, said Nigel Sylvester. He also elaborated his choice to become a new ambassador of Casio G-Shock watches: “G-Shock watches perform well under the extreme conditions in which I ride and look good when I’m just chilling off my bike as well.”
To date, Nigel has 2 G-Shock signature watches under his belt, the GD-100NS-7 released in July 2011 and the G-Shock 30th Anniversary commemorative model GD-101NS-1JR.
